Guardian Media Group appoints new chief financial officer

Guardian Media Group (GMG) has appointed Darren Singer as chief financial officer.
Darren, 41, takes the role previously held by Andrew Miller, who became chief executive officer of GMG in July.
He joins from the WPP-owned global agency network GroupM where, as chief financial officer, EMEA, he is responsible for the financial management of a region with 8,000 staff across 30 countries and revenues of more than $1 billion.
Before moving to GroupM he held a number of senior roles at BSkyB, including director of group finance and reporting and head of finance for Sky Networks, Sky Media and Sky Sports. He has also worked as an analyst at the BBC.
Darren, who will take up his position next year, read Economics at Manchester University and qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse.
Andrew Miller, chief executive officer of GMG, said: “Darren has excellent commercial skills, a full understanding of the media sector and experience of managing change in complex organisations. He will play a key role as we continue to build a strong financial platform for our journalism.”
